Scalloping in Homosassa Scallop Charters
What to expect: on a Homosassa Scalloping Charters
Morning trips begin at 730 or 8 am. We will ride down the scenic Homosassa River
as it meanders into the Gulf of Mexico and to the scalloping grounds. Scalloping takes place in water 3 to 5 feet deep and is easy enough for even the most novice of swimmers. The best way to describe what scalloping is if you have never done it, its like an underwater Easter egg hunt. Its a great Florida tradition, and something native Floridians have done for decades.
After Scalloping and getting your limit, we navigate the river towards the springs for a rinse off in a 72 degree fresh water spring. Some other things you may see are, monkey island, (yep that says it all) manatees, and dolphins.
For scallopers gear is included but if you have your own feel free to bring it.
