A recon mission went under way last evening. My good friend and fellow capt Johnny Touchton and I were after snook on the fly in the dark in January t. o find some new fish for our Tampa bay fishing charters.We fished the down town area towards the mouth of the Hillsborough river. The fish were stacked on a few different lights. using zonkers in purple we realized our baits were no where near matching the hatch. We decided to cut the flies down, the snook were eating bait fry, they were tiny little baits. Even though we did not create a fly close we were able to alter it enough to get one to eat instead of follow!
