Tampa Fishing Charters

Floridays have returned in full force and what a better time to book your Florida Fishing Charters! Most days air temperatures are in the low to mid 80’s, very bearable humidity. The water temperature has reached the magic number, and it all seems to be in a holding pattern in Tampa Bay. Bait has returned to the area markers, bridges and flats. Right on cue with the return of the snook season. Snook are on of the most sought after species in Tampa Bay, especially this time of year.

Snook season is open and hungry anglers are all wanting their slab of meat.See the FWC regulations here. Legal sizes are inside of the slot from 28 to 33 inches. This fish in my opinion is one of the most difficult to catch inside the slot. On a recent trip we had three within an 1/8th of on inch too short. While this can be frustrating I choose to look at it like this, it may be tough to get the keeper but the battles and  the rush of the bite is the biggest part of the fun. It just fun trying to get a keeper fish. If not, hey it is what it is.The thrill of the hunt! Anyway if you want meat, trout seem to be abundant.

Trout are not everywhere but they are somewhere and if you know where that somewhere is they are abundant! On yesterdays trip we battled with snook in search of a keeper and lost. After around 50 fish my clients were talking about a fish fry, I mentioned trout they agreed. We eased down the shore line to be sure my pot hole was free of any anglers within the vicinity. There were none. it was slow to start but when the tide got right we had a limit in no time, then the second limit. We began really working to get trout under the 20 in mark. Some days its just like that, nonstop.
