Recent Tampa Bay Fishing Charters have produced multiple snook and trout. Sardines have still been readily available and the water temp is a cozy 75. All this makes for the perfect storm. Lower phases of the tides the fish concentrate into holes and deeper edges of flats. Once a trout or redfish is located the bite comes alive. Most fish have been slot sized fish with the occasional over slot fish in the mix. Snook are still on the prowl until the water temps drop into the upper 60’s.
Once the temps drop look for the snook bite to dwindle and the trout bite to really fire up! Deep flats and underwater troughs hold lots of fish this time of year.
This is a great time of year to fish with artificials. My 16 ft poling skiff is perfect for 2 anglers and more than able to fish in shallow water. If your a novice and just want to learn how to fish artificials, or a weathered fly caster, the upcoming new moon will have the tides low and the timing right for sight casting tailing redfish!
